Support from New Anglia’s Growth Through Innovation fund

With the support of New Anglia’s Growth Through Innovation (GTI) Fund, Exo Engineering have been able to undertake a much-needed, extensive period of Research and Development.

During this time, we explored new methods for creating complex textures on the surface of our Nature-Inclusive Solutions, offering a variety of new textures and habitats for marine life. This was especially beneficial for our sub-tidal solutions, which seek to combine functional scour protection with nature enhancement through habitat provision. As a result, we have been able to deploy over 16-tonnes of our sub-tidal solutions at the Marine Energy Test Area in Pembrokeshire, which are being monitored over an 18-month period to examine the benefits offered by these new surface textures.

The grant is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund and allows a broad range of innovative businesses to kick-start operations and continue to explore routes to market. For Exo Engineering, this allowed us to explore a variety of methods for creating our complex surface textures at a lower cost, with a quicker turnaround time, all whilst reducing waste. The knowledge gained as a result will be carried forward, enabling streamlined operations of which the benefits can be directly passed on to the clients with whom we work.

The GTI Fund helps to support innovative businesses in Norfolk and Suffolk. If you would like to find out more about the grant and whether it could help your business, please visit www.newanglia.co.uk.
